Galicnik in western Macedonia has its own summer festival. Each year during the festival, a particularly lucky couple are married during a Galicka wedding – a ceremonious event, which includes the entire mountain village.

This ceremony is accompanied by a unique form of wedding music, an almost trance-like sound played on a zurla – a kind of obo with the same sound as bagpipes – and giant tapan drums.

Majovci Group’s music and band members are direct descendants of this tradition, which dates back more than a thousand years. With this fascinating dance orchestra, you’ll get an exotic breath of air from Eastern Europe’s colourful past.
