The spectacular stage show and voice control of Samuel T. Herring has triggered comparisons to a wide range of singers such as Morrissey, Meat Loaf, Tom Waits and Henry Rollins.

However, Future Islands is not a one-man show, but a band. A melodious and emotional band with broad potential.

Over four albums, the trio has refined its brutal, desperate romantic synth pop for a steadily growing audience in an exponential manner. The band has admitted that the title of their new album, Singles, is partially ostentatious, but it is also a statement about their growing self-esteem.

2014 may very well be the year in which the trio from Baltimore finally take home the big prize.
